The Comarca de Lugo - Terras de Ulloa geodestination includes the following municipalities: Antas de Ulla, Castroverde, O Corgo, Friol, Guntín, Monterroso, Outeiro de Rei, Palas de Rei, O Páramo and Rábade.

They are located all around the capital city Lugo and continue across the A Ulloa region, towards the A Coruña and Pontevedra provinces.

An example of the environmental wealth of this territory is the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve, which includes recreational and river-shore areas where one can freely enjoy the wonderful landscapes this river runs through.

Patrimonio

In the religious heritage, the monastic church of San Salvador de Vilar de Donas stands out with its attractive Gothic paintings; remarkable is also the monastic church of Santa María de Ferreira de Pallares in Guntín. Another important example of religious architecture is the church of Santa María de Vilabade in Castroverde.

This geodestination also features several examples of military architecture such as the torre-fortaleza de Castroverde and tower of Miraz in Friol. The most famous castle is that of Pambre in Palas de Rei, recently renovated.

Numerous are the museums displaying the great ethnical wealth of this territory: among other, we would like to mention the museum of the San Paio de Narla fortress in Friol and parish museum in Monterroso.

Nature reserves

The municipalities in this geodestination are part of several protected natural areas: Parga-Ladra-Támoga (Friol, Outeiro de Rei and Rábade); a Serra do Careón (Friol and Palas de Rei) and Miño-Neira (O Corgo, Guntín and O Páramo), without forgetting the already mentioned Reserva da Biosfera Terras do Miño, which includes the municipalities of Castroverde, O Corgo, Friol, Guntín, Outeiro de Rei, O Páramo and Rábade.

In addition to natural areas, you can enjoy the wonderful view of the miradoiro do Farelo in Antas de Ulla. You can also take a walk in Insua de Seivane or a hike along the PR-G 155 Ruta Miradoiro da Terra Chá, both in the Outeiro de Rei municipality.

Rivers in the area offer splendid waterfalls such as the Fervenza das Torrentes de Mácara in Palas de Rei.

Festivals and gastronomy

Two are the festivals that of interest for tourists: the Feira do queixo e do pan in Friol and the very famous Feira de Santos in Monterroso, held on All Saints Day (1 November) each year.
