Lordliness and refinement brought together with the austerity that is typical of the rural world.  That is what life was like in the pazos, the large houses belonging to Galicia's nobility and built mainly between the 17th and 19th centuries.  They are elegant buildings with a story to tell, and many have magnificent gardens that are worth visiting.
